was built in 1888 as a private residence on 80 acres of deeded land when Washington was just a Territory of the United States. Larry and Diane Kiel purchased the property in 1974 to raise their family. The home became the first Bed and Breakfast facility in Kent, Washington in 1993. . Located on two and a half acres, only twenty minutes from either downtown Seattle, Bellevue, and Tacoma and minutes from Sea-Tac International Airport.
The house had been neglected and unoccupied for several years, providing the perfect setting for vandalism to occur: all plumbing thrown out the windows; grafitti recording misdeeds; stairs were missing; both chimneys reduced to rubble; and the crawl space could be seen where fires burned holes through the floorin g. What a mess. A herd of Black Angus cattle used the structure for their barn.
The Kiel Family have spent thirty-plus years repairing and restoring this historic Washington landmark, bringing it to its present splendor and grace. Victorian Gardens B&B offers expansive lawns, garden statuary and fountains, magnificent shade trees, old pasture, swimming pool, and plush "garden rooms" to explore. Each of the four suites provide a unique atmosphere by its decor and furnishings; however, guests find them all to be equal in elegance and comfort. All are appointed with private baths, sitting areas, television, tables with chairs, beautifully upholstered chaise lounges, small refrigerator and queen-size beds. Covered balconies are also part of three suites. The house is furnished with an impressive blend of antiques and modern conveniences. Visiting Victorian Gardens 1888 Bed and Breakfast is like stepping back into time. Upon entering the foyer, one immediately notices the fine, handcrafted wood paneling and elegant furniture, the victorian-era decor, and the attention to detail and style that recaptures another era.
 
To your left, in the living room, you notice the restful, dream-like ambience created through lace curtains, bathing the rose colored walls with fine shadows and subdued light. You notice a small, glass topped pedestal table displaying old documents; to your amazement, you discover these old papers to be Victorian Garden's original home steading deeds, granting this Washington Territorial land to its original owners in 1888!
